General Call for Submissions: *open year round*
We want to know what books shook you—comic, essay, fiction, play, or poetry—what changed your life and outlook? Made you feel less alone? Made you realize you were wrong—or the author was? We want to know. We’re looking for personal essays from 500-1200 words in length about a book that changed your point-of-view. Books with harmful representation may be written about in a critical way, but we prefer to boost books with good representation to help readers stumble upon a book they might not have found otherwise.
Shakespeare’s Heroines: A Call for Submissions: *open January 1 to March 31, 2018*
Send us up to 200 words on your favorite Shakespearean characters. How does their story personally affect you?
Here was our Shakespeare’s Heroines: 2017 Edition .
How to Format:
Please email your review for consideration to email@example.com . In the title, write your last name and the book’s title that you’re reviewing (example: Mans McKenny: THE DARKEST CHILD). In the body of the email, copy and paste the full review. Also include a two or three sentence bio to help us get to know you, your work, or your other review sites. Write the bio in the third person with the pronouns that relate to your gender identity.
Books that Shook Us is happy to print reviews published on personal blogs (though do let us know and provide a link). As far as republication from other publications, check with the original place of publication before sending to us and let us know where it was previously published.
We will aim to get back to you within 4 weeks from your submission date. Submissions for Shakespeare’s Heroines will be responded to in early April for an April 20th publication date.
